Point of focus

I always need something to look forward to. Usually it is travel, but if I have to stretch, which in itself makes me sad, I choose something else exciting like planned event with friends. This is how you get through the rough patches, like this last weekend. The work weekend from hell.

But it is all ok- because I had the day off today- and it was beautiful! My mom and I sat in the sun. But of course, I got burned. Up until 2 years ago I had never been sunburned in my life. And I was a sun-worshiper. Tan-orexia, big time. Now I burn all the time. Boo. I think it is because I am not such an addict anymore.

Anyway- I'm getting off subject. My short-term point of focus was today. My big point of focus for the weekend is tuesday- the start of my two weeks straight vacation. Craziness. I hope I don't go crazy without working for that long.

Tuesday I leave for St. Louis- July 5th I come back from Miami. Sometime in that time frame I will be moving from the first location to the second- helping Shady move. Your guess on when that would be is as good as mine. ;)

En route we will stop and visit Scott in Atlanta. I'm sure stories will follow.

Hopefully this initial sunburn will keep me burn-free for the duration of my trip. That and some sunscreen.

Congrats on your new job! I'm glad that my idiocracy could eventually help you out... it all pays off eventually.

Mabrouk to you as well... I don't think I did anything to help with this one though...

On the bonnie bonnie banks of loch Pomme de Terre

Yesterday was the first day that we have been at the cabin that I got home when it was still light out so Connie and I decided to celebrate by taking ourselves and the shisha on a sunset pontoon stroll around the lake. Should be an easy enough little adventure, right?
Not for us.
Had some trouble starting the pontoon as it hadn't been ran in a while- after the 3rd time we got it started we decided to quick start moving hoping that it would stay running. Well, it didn't. Motor died about 50 ft from the dock. Then the engine wouldn't do anything when I tried to start it.
(I found out later that it is because I didn't take it out of gear when it died. Sorry Con.)
The current carried us to my neighbors dock- from there we tried to walk the boat along the shoreline and back around our dock onto the boat lift. This was all quite comical- but nothing too tragic. Until *plop* my phone falls out of my pocket and into the lake. Two screams can be heard throughout the peninsula.
There was a baywatch-esque ripping off of my clothing- luckily we had both worn our swimsiuts in case we decided to swim- and I dove in after my precious phone. I jumped out of the water once I had rescued it and we tag-teamed as Connie baywatch-ran into the house to attempt to resesitate our victim.
Thanks to quick thinking, Connie took apart the phone and left it out to dry and it kind of worked this morning.
Our shisha attempt on the deck didn't fare much better I am afraid. It was windy, the shisha sucks, and coals kept flying into Connie's drink.
We surrendered ourselves to the elements and decided to head upstairs to watch a movie. I fell asleep right away marking the first time in months- I really can't remember- that I went to bed before midnight.
With a solid 9+ hours of sleep under my belt you'd think today would be a better day... right?

Awaiting more adventures....

I apologize for the lack of current (non-winter) pictures- it is a lot warmer now- so picture no snow- green grass- bright sun- and a beautiful blue lake as I entice you all in.

This is the place

the 7 seas of rye

Vegas... was... phenomenal!
We will rock you- seriously- I want to try out for it. ; ) I'd make a great Scaramouche. Yeah- the story line is a little hokey- but the music- well I obviously knew that would be good- and the talent was incredible!!! I was trying really hard not to sing along (anyone who knows me, knows that would be hard) because I didn't want to annoy others, but I bought an entire vocal, guitar, piano book of all the songs to sing later!
Of course I know all the lyrics already ; ) - now I just have to learn the guitar...
Also went to Mama Mia- which was awesome.
Did a lot of shopping- 3 news pairs of shoes! (among other things)
And met a lot of really cool people.

One of my top discoveries- granted a drunk man in the bar told me this- Amr Diab is playing there in September! Salaam reunion? Mumkin? We can invite all the freshly returned Salaamers too- and anyone else who wants to come! Wahoo!
This particular drunk man was at the Nancy Ajram concert the night before- Nancy (yes- we are on a first name basis) played at my hotel on Saturday night- boy would I have loved to be there- but we already had tickets- and I didn't bring my galabeya- and that just wouldn't be right.
I haven't been able to confirm the details of the concert yet- if anyone knows anything- let me know. If this is all a rumor started by a drunk man in the bar- I might cry...

Note to self: never take a 7 am flight out of vegas.

So now I am back- Connie and I will be heading up to the cabin soon. Staying there for a while. And we expect all of you nomads who are going to be in the area to come visit. As many of you know- its a really fun place ; ) And a lot warmer this time of year too... We can sing campfire songs- to all queen...

This entry is very flighty I think- sorry- I'm kind of wired. ; )
