Oman!
Oman this weekend was a fantastic adventure!
A little bit too hot...
Ok- a LOT too hot...
I think at some point we all thought we would die there.
But we didn't.
Despite the heat we managed to see some sites and places. Got to mark off another entry in my 1000 places book- the Bustan Palace Hotel. Nice! (I know, I need a camera) I think people could smell poor on us though. Or maybe it was the sweat. Either way.
We hung out for a bit- I had a Cuba Libre and Sarah tried to teach me chess. A solid effort on her part- but I was a fairly unwilling student.
Forgot to get a postcard again though. Shoot.
Oh well, I'm sure I will go back- although not until fall if I can help it!
The locals in Oman are wonderful. Less like Emirates and more like Egyptians. Warm, friendly, using their hands a lot when they talk, and not too snobby to walk in the streets.
Why do all the places with great people have bad job markets? Maybe the good job markets bring in bad people...? The chicken or the egg?
Anyway- Oman as a destination- two thumbs up. In June- one thumb up. And its a sweaty thumb. I think another excursion is in order.

hey holly, i am happy that u enjoyed ur trip to omman .....but u guys don't ever think to have another excursion before i come . Huh !! :)
hey, just gotta tell you that I was talking to someone in @ Germany and one of their first questions after finding out where I was from was, "isnt Holly from Eau Claire?"
so, goes to show your popularity spans the world, but still no one is ever really sure where youre from.. kudos!
